These 18 destinations in India don’t require you to quarantine
If the idea of a 14-day institutional or home quarantine is discouraging you from taking the next flight out, here’s some good news. A number of destinations in India, including Goa, Puducherry, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, are now welcoming you without the need for a negative COVID-19 test or mandatory quarantine. A few others are allowing you with some formalities. Here’s the full list along with the rules, if any.
Arunachal Pradesh
Airport: Tezu
All interstate travellers will be tested for COVID-19 using the Rapid Antigen Test at the entry point. Those who are asymptomatic and negative can perform regular activities in the state following precautionary measures like social distancing and wearing masks.
Chandigarh
Airport: Chandigarh
Travellers visiting for less than 72 hours are exempt from home quarantine. Besides going through thermal screening, passengers will be required to fill a self-declaration form that states they haven’t been outside the country in the past 15 days. They will also have to register themselves on the state website.
Daman and Diu
Airport: Diu
Visitors shall be exempt from quarantine if they have a negative COVID-19 certificate from an ICMR-recognised lab. The test should be no more than 72 hours old.
Gujarat
Airports: Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar, Bhuj, Kandla, Porbandar, Rajkot, Surat and Vadodara
All visitors will have to undergo thermal screening. Asymptomatic passengers will not be required to quarantine. They will also be required to certify the status of their health through a self-declaration form or the Aarogya Setu app.
Goa
Airport: Goa
The state requires no testing or quarantine for travellers from other states.
Himachal Pradesh
Airports: Shimla, Kangra, Kullu
Tourists heading to Himachal Pradesh do not require a COVID certificate, nor do they need to register on the government portal.
Karnataka
Airports: Bengaluru, Hubbali, Mangaluru, Belgavi, Mysuru and Kalaburagi
Domestic passengers who are asymptomatic are not required to quarantine. However, if the passenger is symptomatic, they will be required to self-isolate immediately and seek medical advice.
Kerala
Airports: Calicut, Kochi, Kannur and Thiruvananthapuram
You may not be able to visit Kerala to vacation just yet, but if you need to travel for business, trade, court cases, property management or a medical reason, you can visit the state for less than seven days without the need to quarantine.
Ladakh
If you’re visiting Ladakh for less than five days, you can avoid quarantining by providing a negative RT-PCR test, which is no more than 96 hours old. However, if you plan to stay for more than seven days, you will need to mandatorily home quarantine for seven days.
Maharashtra
Airports: Mumbai, Pune, Aurangabad, Kolhapur, Jalgaon and Nagpur
All passengers visiting from within the country and planning to leave within seven days will be exempt from quarantine, provided they are able to produce a confirmed ticket for their return journey.
Madhya Pradesh
Airport: Bhopal, Jabalpur, Indore, Khajuraho
Visitors will have to undergo thermal screening at the airport. If found asymptomatic, they need not quarantine. A COVID test will be conducted if the person is found to be symptomatic. Till the report is available, the traveller will have to go into institutional quarantine.
Puducherry
Airport: Pondicherry
The union territory does not have any health screenings or mandatory quarantine requirements. Anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 here or starts experiencing symptoms is to report to a government-run hospital for further examination.
Punjab
Airports: Amritsar, Pathankot Ludhiana, Bathinda, Jalandhar
While passengers are required to home quarantine for 14 days, if you’re visiting for business, you will be exempt from quarantine. The individual will have to certify the status of their health through the Aarogya Setu app or a self-declaration form. They also must register themselves on the state’s COVA app, which provides necessary travel advisories related to COIVID-19.
Rajasthan
Airports: Jaipur, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Kishangarh
All domestic passengers shall undergo thermal screening. Asymptomatic passengers will not have to undergo any kind of quarantine. However, if a visitor is symptomatic, he or she will have to be taken to the nearest health facility.
Telangana
Airport: Hyderabad
Visitors must undergo thermal screening. Asymptomatic passengers are exempt from quarantine, while those symptomatic shall be taken to a medical facility.
Uttarakhand
Airports: Dehradun, Pantnagar
To visit Uttarakhand, tourists will have to carry an RT-PCR/ TrueNAT/CBNAAT/Antigen test conducted no more than 96 hours before arrival. Asymptomatic patients will be exempt from quarantine. Those arriving without a test have the option of taking the test at the airport, border check post, railway station or any other ICMR-authorised COVID testing lab in Uttarakhand.
Uttar Pradesh
Airports: Lucknow, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, Agra, Kanpur
If you plan to visit the state for less than seven days, you will be exempt from mandatory quarantine subject to validation of return within those days. Passengers are expected to certify the status of their health on the Aarogya Setu app or through a self-declaration form. They also need to register themselves on the state air travel registration website.
West Bengal
Airport: Bagdogra, Kolkata
Passengers will have to undergo thermal screening on arrival. Asymptomatic visitors are advised to monitor their health for at least 14 days. In case they develop symptoms, they will need to inform the local medical officer or state call center. Those showing mild or severe symptoms will be taken to a COVID healthcare facility.
